How is this different from LinkedIn or the WhatsApp groups we already use?
On LinkedIn, a profile says whatever the holder types. On WhatsApp, a number vouches for another number. Neither has confirmed anything. Crewbase starts where those networks stop: no profile appears in search results on a self-reported basis. Credentials are checked — not by the professional, and not automatically. Operators aren't comparing CVs; they're looking at verified records.
How do I know the credentials are genuine?
Every profile is manually reviewed before it appears in any search result. Nothing goes live on a self-reported basis — ever. When a credential lapses, the profile is removed from results until it is re-cleared. The 'last verified' date on every card is not a signup date. It is the date the check was done.
How long does verification actually take?
We target 2–5 business days from credential submission to verified status. The review is manual, not automated. If there is a discrepancy we cannot resolve immediately, we contact you directly before any decision is made. Profiles remain private until verification clears.
When an operator finds someone — does the hire happen through Crewbase?
No. Crewbase is a discovery and verification layer, not a recruitment agency. Once an operator identifies a candidate, they make direct contact. The negotiation, contract, and employment relationship stay between them. We don't take a placement fee. We don't sit in the middle of the hire.
What happens to a profile when a licence or medical expires?
Professionals get renewal alerts before expiry. If a credential lapses — medical, type rating, or licence — the profile is automatically suppressed from operator search results until it's updated and re-verified. Operators who have already shortlisted that person see a clear status flag, not a stale green badge. Crewbase tracks currency, not just historic certification.
Can my current employer see that I'm on Crewbase?
Only operators with an active Crewbase subscription can access the directory. Profiles are not public, not indexed by search engines, and not visible outside the platform. You can also set your availability status — open to opportunities or not actively looking — which controls how prominently your profile surfaces in operator searches.
